In June 2026 I facilitated a three-day retreat for the forty-five people in Human Rights Watch’s Communications Division. The meeting was offsite and brought together communications staff from a number of different offices.
In the wake of multiple restructures, and under relatively new leadership, we worked together to build out the pillars of a new three-year communications strategy for the organisation. We considered regional and global priorities and developed creative tactics to advance the organisation's work on them in a challenging external context.
We also looked at ways of working and invested in team-building, training, and skills development. It was a privilege to spend time with such a passionate, talented and committed group of people and to support their work to advance human rights and end impunity.
